Printer-friendly version

The Rexford Apartments at 1060 Washington Street were constructed in 1931 under permit #2199.  The owner of the property at time of construction was Aaron Forer, and the cost of construction was $55,000.  The building was designed by the architectural firm of Ireland & Parr.  The Rexford was the second of three planned apartment buildings to be designed by Ireland & Parr and constructed on lots 1 to 10 of block 96 of Porters Addition. The first apartment building, the Cordova at 1050 Washington Street, was built in 1930 to the south of the Rexford. The third building, slated to be constructed to the north of 1060 Washington Street, was never built.
