Denver assessor records list the date of construction for 2155 High Street as 1894. While no definitive building permit could be located for this property, the year of construction appears to be approximately correct. An 1892 building permit (#1681) lists the legal description for the adjacent property (lots 27, 28), with John Duthie as owner, David Duff Seerie as builder, and John J. Huddart as architect. Duthie is listed in city directories at 2155 High Street. The two residences share many features, including recessed gable arches, similar stone surrounds on the main front facade window on each building, and similar patterned brick around the foundation. It is probable that both buildings were designed by Huddart and built by Seerie.

Denver assessor records list the first owner of 2155 High Street as the builder/stonemason David Duff Seerie, who purchased the property in 1892 and likely built the home on speculation. In 1894 and 1895, two individuals are listed in the Denver city directory as living at this address: John Duthie, a stone mason, and Mrs. Elsie McDougal. According to Denver assessor records, neither individual ever owned the property. In 1896, the home was purchased by Martha K. Hyde. Martha Hyde was the wife of mining man Dana G. Hyde. An 1892 article in theRocky Mountain News  shows that Dana was associated with the Romance Consolidated Gold and Silver Mining Company.
